Job Purpose: As a Buying Assistant, your main responsibility will be to assist the buyer/ Category Head or Senior Buyer to list Vendors, List products, chase up information, paperwork and data from suppliers, communicate with stores, monitor competitor pricing, change pricing, load promotional pricing, manage promotions and maintain an accurate database of product information
The role
- Specific roles and responsibilities include:
- List new lines accurately with attention to detail with well thought out hierarchy placement
- Check competitor pricing before setting price with the Category Manager
- Pull reports and data related to sales, margin, supplier sales, promotions etc.
- Analyse the data to monitor and track sales
- Build sustainable supplier relationships
- Manage data to and from suppliers, marketing and finance to ensure that suppliers and products are listed timeously and accurately
- Manage and load promotional pricing accurately and on time for instore as well as online.
- Check ticketing and ensure promotions are well thought out to ensure customers understand the promotion well

Essential
- 3-5 years in FMCG retail or other related working environments as a Buyers assistant
